This toolkit, available now in a preliminary draft version in English and French, is designed to enhance the knowledge, skills, and capacity of midwives, and of their national midwifery associations, to conduct advocacy for positive policy change. using evidence published in The State of the World's Midwifery (SoWMy) 2014 report.
The preliminary version of the toolkit was produced for use in capacity-building workshops at the 30th Triennial Congress of the International Confederation of Midwives (ICM), held in Prague, Czech Republic, in June 2014.
The toolkit will be refined and finalized based on this workshop experience, and will then be used to mobilize national midwifery associations, in countries with high burdens of maternal and newborn mortality, to advocate effectively in support of national launches of the SoWMy 2014 report and its recommended actions. Final versions in English, French and Spanish will be available later in 2014.
